Tua Tagovailoa Trade Rumors: $6.4Bn AFC Franchise Becomes Odds-On Favorite As Miami QB Gets Mired In Talks

Tua Tagovailoa’s 2025 season will go down as one to forget. While the team’s comeback from all but out to the edge of the playoff hunt will be memorable for fans, the Miami Dolphins quarterback’s future is murky at best.

With the team changing to rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers, it all but signals the end of Tagovailoa’s run with the Dolphins. The quarterback is still under contract for at least one more full season, which means the only option for the $7.5 billion franchise (Forbes) is a trade this offseason.

According to odds provided by Sportsbetting.ag via The Dawgs Podcast on Instagram on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs, a $6.4 billion franchise (Forbes), find themselves as the team with the third-highest odds of landing the quarterback at +400.

Patrick Mahomes’ ACL injury is expected to take well into the preseason to heal fully, and if there is any delay, the Chiefs will need a quarterback the team trusts in September. Tagovailoa could be that option.

With Tyreek Hill potentially on the way out as well, with a chance of returning to Andy Reid’s team, a reunion in Kansas City would seemingly make sense for Tagovailoa. Of course, with 31 other teams in the NFL, many options could make sense for the Dolphins quarterback.

Exploring Other Potential Fits For Tua Tagovailoa

While the Kansas City Chiefs might make the most sense, Tua Tagovailoa could end up in a number of places.

One team that makes sense is the New York Jets, a team that is heading into a potentially even more exhaustive rebuild than the previous one. Tagovailoa has experience facing the AFC East and would be a quality bridge quarterback with long-term upside.

The Minnesota Vikings clearly cannot continue with Max Brosmer as its long-term backup solution, with J.J. McCarthy’s struggles to stay healthy. Whether the team uses Tagovailoa as the Week 1 bridge quarterback with a new rookie quarterback or as a quality backup for one more season behind McCarthy with bridge quarterback upside in 2027, Tagovailoa could make sense in a variety of ways for the Vikings.

The Arizona Cardinals also make sense, with the Kyler Murray era seemingly all but over. If the team wants a fresh face, it could do worse than Tagovailoa, who has flashed with star receivers before. If Arizona wants to avoid trotting out a rookie quarterback in Week 1 of 2026, it could go with Tagovailoa.
