Trey Benson Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Cardinals RB Status Ahead Of Week 12

Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson has been out for most of the season with a knee injury. The Cardinals’ RB room has been decimated this season, with Benson and the starter at the beginning of the season, James Conner, both out with injuries. As the NFL season continues to progress, the Cardinals are hoping Benson will be able to return soon. However, updates from the Cardinals have been limited.

    What Happened to Trey Benson?

Trey Benson injured his meniscus in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks. Before going down with the injury, he had eight carries for 35 yards. He was in the starting role after James Conner got injured earlier in the season.

Benson’s injury has resulted in Arizona’s RB depth being tested. Emari Demercado, Bam Knight, and Michael Carter have all been tested in the starting position, but none have performed at a high level.

Is Trey Benson Playing Week 12?

There has been no indication from the Arizona Cardinals that Trey Benson is expected to play this week. However, things could change based on practice availability. If Benson appears as a limited participant on Wednesday or Thursday, there is a chance he could make a return this weekend against Jacksonville.

    Trey Benson Fantasy Outlook

It is hard to say Trey Benson has a good fantasy outlook when his availability is up in the air. If he returns, he will likely be slotted into the starting RB role. However, it is unclear when he will return, and as a result, we do not recommend fantasy owners to bank on him stabilizing their RB situations. Benson can stay on your IR, but you should prepare for the possibility of him being out for a few more weeks.

Best Fantasy Replacements If Trey Benson Misses This Week

While it is frustrating for fantasy owners not to get a lot of information about Benson’s status, there should still be many solid options available on your waiver wire.

Green Bay’s Emmanuel Wilson is a solid option and is only rostered in 32% of leagues. He goes up against the Vikings this week. We are also fans of Pittsburgh’s Kenneth Gainwell, who is only 43% rostered. His Steelers go up against the Bears this week.
