Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson suffered a knee injury during the team’s game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4. Although it was initially viewed as minor, he has not played since the injury. At the time of his injury, the recovery window was set at four to six weeks. It has now been four weeks since his injury. Fortunately for the Cardinals, they do not have a game this week and do not need to worry about rushing him back.
What Happened to Trey Benson?
Trey Benson last appeared in a game for the Cardinals on Sept. 26 against the Seattle Seahawks. He made eight carries in the game for 35 yards. Benson reportedly played through the injury, so it is unclear which play caused the injury. Soon after the game, it was announced that Benson suffered a knee injury and underwent surgery on his meniscus. The timeline for his return was set at four to six weeks.
When is Trey Benson Coming Back?
The coaching staff has not spoken about Trey Benson much since his injury. As a result, we do not have much insight into when he will return. However, the initial timeline indicated that Benson could return as soon as four weeks after the injury. So, the earliest he could have returned would have been this week if the Cardinals had a game.
As a result, there should be a possibility that he will return next week against the Dallas Cowboys. If not, the following week against Seattle is the likely return date if he does not suffer a setback in his recovery.
Top 3 Replacements For Trey Benson
Fantasy owners will need to find a replacement for Trey Benson this week, both because of his injury and because the Cardinals are on a bye. If you are in that position, there should be plenty of solid options on the waiver wire.
Chicago Bears RB Kyle Monangai is a good option. He got plenty of volume last week against the Saints, and with D’Andre Swift questionable for this week’s game against Baltimore, Monangai could get a lot of action again.

-Week 7: 14-81-1 TD
-Ravens defense is giving up 4.7 yards per carry to opposing running backs. He’ll continue to split with Swift but this could turn into a Gibbs-Monty situation like Ben Johnson had in DET pic.twitter.com/LLZMaEptCH

Tennessee Titans RB Tyjae Spears is another could option. He has emerged as a good run option for the Titans in recent weeks despite limited usage. With starter Tony Pollard struggling, the Titans could give Spears a bigger look.
If you are in a deeper league and neither of those players is available, Kansas City rookie Brashard Smith is a solid option. While Isaiah Pacheco gets most of the snaps, Smith had a breakout game last week, rushing 14 times for 39 yards. If HC Andy Reid liked what he saw, Smith could get more snaps again this week.
