Trey Benson Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Cardinals RB Status Ahead of Week 11

Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson has been out since getting injured during Week 4, and he has been placed in the injured reserve list. However, as Week 11 approaches, Benson is already eligible for return. He became eligible to return during last week’s showdown against the Seattle Seahawks, but he remained injured and did not play.

Arizona’s Week 11 opponent will be the injury-plagued San Francisco 49ers, which may see their QB1, Brock Purdy, finally return after suffering from a case of turf toe. The question now is, will Trey Benson be healthy enough to play against them?

    What Happened to Trey Benson?

On Week 4, Trey Benson went down with a foot injury after their game against the Seahawks, which they lost 20-23. This soon led to him being placed on the injured reserve, which meant that he was expected to be out for at least four weeks, with the injury now stretching longer than that.

Will Trey Benson Play Week 11?

There has not been a lot of updates regarding Benson so far, with the last one coming being revealed ahead of the Cardinals’ rematch against the Seahawks, which they also lost. It came from Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who had some positive news that the second-year running back is “doing well” and progressing. However, the coach also confirmed that Gannon would be missing the Week 10 rematch against the Seahawks.

“He’s doing well. Take it day-by-day there,” he told reporters. “He’s not gonna be out there today, but he is doing better. What does close mean? I don’t know what close means. Take it day by day, but he’s doing well. He’s progressing.”

For Week 11, Benson is not expected to return just yet, though the team has remained positive that he could be back sometime later this season.

    Trey Benson Fantasy Outlook

No timeline for his return has been made just yet, which means that Fantasy managers should still sit him out or hold out on picking him up just yet.  It should still be noted that the team does not consider his injury as season-ending.

Fantasy Replacement If Trey Benson Misses Week 11

After James Conner went down in Week 3, the team expected Benson to take up the mantle, only for him to go down one week later. For now, a notable pickup for those who have him in their fantasy leagues should be Emari Demercado, who is expected to start as running back for Arizona against the Niners. He has done well so far, carrying the ball four times for 64 rushing yards this season.
