Trey Benson joined the Arizona Cardinals last season as he was selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, as the Cardinals selected him with the 66th overall pick. As a rookie, Benson appeared in 14 out of the 17 games. He had 63 carries for291 yards and a rushing touchdown and added 59 receiving yards on six catches.
This year, he entered the season again as James Conner’s backup. But Benson became the team’s primary back after Connor suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the team’s Week 3 game.
What Happened to Trey Benson?
During the Arizona Cardinals‘ Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks, Trey Benson suffered a meniscus injury. He was forced to have arthroscopic surgery, and was placed on injured reserve as a result.
With Benson being placed on injured reserve, he is forced to miss at least four games, making him eligible to return back to the field is Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Trey Benson Fantasy Outlook
Trey Benson was set to be in line for a bigger fantasy season once James Conner went down with a season-ending injury in Week 3. The only problem is, Benson went on IR the following week with his own meniscus injury.

Prior to his injury, Benson was looking like he was about to have a bigger season. He rushed for 160 yards while averaging 5.5 yards per carry as a backup. He also had 13 receptions for 64 yards.
Since Benson will have missed a good amount of time this season, he still could be a good waiver add once he returns soon.
