Starting the season as the Arizona Cardinals’ second-string running back, Trey Benson had an increased role when starting running back James Conner suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3.
In Benson’s first start of the season, a week later against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, he suffered a meniscus injury, which required arthroscopic surgery, and he was ruled out for 4-6 weeks. As a result of the injury, Benson has missed the team’s last two games against the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans, and has to miss at least the next two games.
On the season, Benson has 29 carries for 160 yards, averaging 5.5 yards per carry.
Top 5 Waiver RB options to replace Trey Benson
The Arizona Cardinals have been unlucky at running back this season. They’ve had James Conner and Trey Benson suffer significant injuries early on in the season.
With Benson being out of action for at least two more games, here are five running backs you can look to replace him in fantasy for owners who have Benson on injured reserve and who may want to shake things up at running back or in the flex this week.
-Kimani Vidal
With Najee Harris out for the season and with Omarion Hampton on injured reserve, Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal made the most out of his first game of the season where he was heavily involved in the backfield. Vidal rushed for 124 yards on 18 carries in Sunday’s win against the Miami Dolphins and also had a receiving touchdown.
-Woody Marks
Woody Marks may be second on the Houston Texans’ depth chart in the backfield, but he has had 24 carries over the last two games. With Joe Mixon still sidelined, it’s been mainly Nick Chubb and Marks splitting duties in the Texans’ backfield. Marks has had over 140 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in his last two games combined.
-RJ Harvey
The Denver Broncos had gotten rookie running back RJ Harvey involved this season. He has 49 total touches in six games and has over 250 yards from scrimmage with a receiving touchdown. Any game now, he could have his big breakout game.
-Michael Carter
While James Conner and Trey Benson are both sidelined, it’s been Michael Carter as the lead back in Arizona‘s backfield. He hasn’t done anything spectacular in his starts, but he has had 34 total touches and over 130 yards from scrimmage in the last two games combined.
-Tyler Allegier
Tyler Allegier has been a solid backup running back to Bijan Robinson since Robinson entered the league in 2023. Allegier rushed for 1,000 yards as a rookie in 2022, and has been productive when his name has been called. Allegier has rushed for a touchdown in each of the last two games.
