The Dallas Cowboys announced that Trevon Diggs had suffered a home accident on Thursday night. Because of the accident, head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed that Diggs has been placed into concussion protocol.
This also means that the cornerback won’t be available in this week’s game against the Washington Commanders.
Trevon Diggs’ Accident
So far, the only thing known as revealed by coach Brian Schottenheimer ahead of Friday’s practice is that Diggs was part of a mystery accident that puts him in concussion protocol. The head coach said they are trying to get more information, but added the cornerback “seems to be doing okay.”

The Cowboys will miss the cornerback in Sunday’s game. The NFL’s concussion protocols are strict, which means that it might take some time before he returns to the gridiron.
So far this season, Diggs has played six games, recording 13 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles. He has 0 interceptions and 0 forced fumbles.
Trevon Diggs Began 2025 Season On PUP List
Prior to this mystery accident, Trevon Diggs underwent knee surgery (a chondral tissue graft) in late January 2025. He went under the knife after playing through a knee issue in the final six games of the 2024 season.
Because of this, he began the 2025 season on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list. On August 24, the Cowboys revealed he passed a physical and was activated.
The Cowboys enforced a contract clause that reduced his pay by about $500,000 because he didn’t work on his rehab at the team facility. This left the cornerback happy but he’s okay with the change.
“I hopefully make it back in incentives,” Diggs said. “They do a great job here. I just felt like it was in my best interest to go somewhere to get the full, undivided attention I needed — massages and the whole nine yards — to better and further my career, to make sure I’m good, ahead of schedule and that I can perform well. Like [when I tore] my ACL, I came back a whole two months earlier because of the work I put in during the offseason, off the field… My work is gonna show. What I put into it is gonna show on the field.”
It remains to be seen when Diggs returns to the roster.
