Travis Kelce Career Earnings: How Much Did The Chiefs TE Make During 13-Season Run?

Rumors are swirling that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is about to announce his retirement after a 13-year run in the NFL. The rumors have some truth to them, as the player and his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, have spoken at length about the possibility of the younger Kelce retiring this season.

The desire to retire could mainly be compounded by a desire to settle down, as Kelce recently got engaged to pop superstar Taylor Swift, and the two have spoken about their desire to have a family together. He’s also 36 years old, which is quite old for the NFL.

In his 13-year-long career, the tight end has made around $111 million  — $3.1 million from his rookie contract, $46.8 million from his 2017-2021 extension, $22.7 million from his second extension (2022-2023), and $38.6 million from the renegotiation of said extension (2024-2025).

Travis Kelce on Whether or Not He Will Retire From the NFL

Speaking last month about the subject of retirement, Kelce told the press the following:

“Seeing my brother go through it, and seeing how the league works, the season re-starts in April, and I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity, whether I come back or not, and vice versa — whether they want me back or not.”

“I’d like to make that decision before they’ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens, or gives them an opportunity to fill the roster appropriately. All that will be at the end of the season. I won’t be thinking about it until then,” he added.

Clearly, leaving the Chiefs in the best possible position is Kelce’s top priority. He also said he would be able to return and play at a high level for another year.
