Travis Hunter was declared one of the best players in the 2024 college football season, and he was the second overall pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2025 NFL Draft. The ex-Colorado star, who also won the Heisman in his final year of college, is popularly known for his ability to play both ways.
While playing on both sides is an elite quality, many analysts and former players believe it would not be a good idea for the Jaguars’ rookie in the long term, as it would put added pressure and risk of getting injured.
This conversation grew further for the fans online when he got placed on the IR by the Jaguars for the Raiders game in Week 9 due to his knee injury.
“Worst 2nd overall pick ever,” one fan commented.
“When will they realize trying to play both sides probably isn’t the right move…injury risk and production wise it doesn’t make sense,” another fan added.
“This really puts things into perspective! Hunter was on fire with 28 receptions and a TD already as a rookie, and now this injury could change everything. Playing both ways at the pro level is no joke—very few have done it without injury issues. Is it too much too soon?” another fan questioned.
“Big relief for the Jags that it’s not an ACL tear. Hoping Travis heals up fast and comes back even stronger!” another fan hoped.
“He was injured yesterday immediately put on ir nobody knows whats wrong but he wants a second opinion sounds wishy washy to me,” another fan wrote.
“Man they’ll really miss his ‘two way generational talent!'” another fan joked.
Initial testing revealed that Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter’s ACL is intact, per source. Hunter is going through additional testing to determine the extent of the injury and how long he’ll be sidelined, and no answers are expected before next week. Skip Bayless Grills Travis Hunter for Getting Baptized on Game Day Sunday
Travis Hunter was officially baptized recently before the Jaguars took on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6, which ended in a 20-12 loss for Jacksonville.
Skip Bayless shared his opinion on Hunter’s baptism, saying he decided to do so just a few hours before the game because he was mentally “checking out” from the team.
He further claimed that Hunter must be thinking that the Jaguars are not using him to the best of his capabilities anyway, hence, he is not fully concentrating on his game.
“It was a stunning indication of where his head is at, or not at, right now,” Bayless said. “It’s not really into football right now.”
“His attitude, obviously, in this case was, ‘Hey, they’re not using me that much anyway, why not?'” Bayless said.
Hunter will miss at least four games due to his injury because he hurt his knee during practice on Thursday.
