Jacksonville Jaguars unicorn Travis Hunter has successfully been able to play as an effective two-way starter in the NFL early on in his career.
After winning the Heisman Trophy last season in college football, some pondered if Hunter’s versatility as a two-way starter would translate to the NFL. In the seven games that he’s played in this season, it’s been a trial and error experiment of how to most effectively use Hunter, but it’s worked.
On offense, he has 28 catches for 298 yards and a receiving touchdown. On defense, he has 15 tackles and three pass deflections.
What Happened to Travis Hunter?
Last week, before the Jaguars’ Week 10 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Travis Hunter suffered a non-contact injury in practice. There haven’t been many details about the injury, but ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter thinks he will miss significant time.

As long as the Jaguars keep winning I think we’ll see him again this season” ~ @AdamSchefter #PMSLive https://t.co/ccJapaGrt9 pic.twitter.com/hEcNx2WsNq

Is Travis Hunter Playing This Week?
Because of the injury that Travis Hunter suffered in practice, the Jacksonville Jaguars placed him on injured reserve. This means he has to miss a minimum of four games and is eligible to return in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans. Hunter will not be playing this week against the Houston Texans.
Travis Hunter Fantasy Outlook
Prior to his injury, it seemed as if Travis Hunter was settling into his offensive role, and seemed as if he would start to be getting more targets.
In the Jaguars’ Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Hunter had a career game, setting career-highs for receptions (8), receiving yards (101), and receiving touchdowns (1) in a single game. With Hunter being out for at least three more games, fantasy owners likely have him on injured reserve on the bench and will hope he gets healthy to return as a flex player.
Travis Hunter Fantasy Replacements
The perfect replacement for Travis Hunter in fantasy is Jakobi Meyers. The Jaguars just acquired him this morning from the Las Vegas Raiders to fill in for Hunter’s void. Fantasy owners could also target Jaguars WR Parker Washington, who is third on the team in receptions and receiving yards.
