Tom Brady Denies Dave Portnoy’s Claim of $75 Million Paycheck: “Are We Just Picking Numbers Out of a Hat”

On Sept. 15, Tom Brady announced that he was coming out of retirement, once again. But the announcement wasn’t about his comeback to the NFL. Brady will return for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, hosted by Saudi Arabia.

The tournament will kick off in March 2026 and will feature some of the biggest names in football history, including Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Odell Beckham Jr., Myles Garrett, and more. Needless to say, there’s a lot of excitement about the event, especially because of Brady’s return.

Over the last week, this has been one of the biggest topics of discussion. Amid that, Dave Portnoy took to his podcast “Wake Up Barstool” and revealed the money Brady is allegedly slated to make for his return.

“$75 million he got paid to do this,” Portnoy said.

Portnoy went on to discuss the event with his co-hosts and asked them what their asking price would be to play flag football. However, Brady, when he saw the clip, wasn’t concerned about anything else but the amount that Portnoy mentioned.

“Are we just picking numbers out of a hat and reporting them?” Brady responded.

Brady then went on to follow Portnoy’s theme of making outrageous claims and added a few of his own.

“While we’re breaking news… Elvis is doing the halftime show, and babe Ruth is gonna sign some autographs for fans. Also I heard Dave prefers floppy pizza. Who cares about facts right?” Brady wrote.

Tom Brady Issued a Press Release Announcing His Return

Tom Brady has announced his retirement twice in recent years. He first retired in 2022, only to come back and announce retirement again in 2023. This time, it felt like he was putting an end to his playing career.

Recently, he also took up the role of an NFL analyst with Fox Sports, signing a 10-year, $375 million deal with the network. But the Fanatics Flag Football Classic was too good an opportunity for Brady to pass on.

“I couldn’t be more excited to return to the field, get the competitive juices flowing alongside some of the game’s brightest stars and iconic legends, and bring a truly unique global sports event to fans everywhere during Riyadh Season,” he said in a press release.

Being the workaholic that made him arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, Brady is already back in the gym. He recently posted pictures from his gym session, stating that only 179 days remain until the world gets to see Brady on a field once again.
