Tom Brady Wishes ‘Better’ Career Ending for $80M Worth John Cena Than His Ahead of Thrilling Retirement Game

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady was among the many celebrities who wished well John Cena ahead of retirement match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII in Washington, D.C.

Before the match began, on Saturday, WWE played a farewell video for Cena, who is worth $80 million (via Celebrity Net Worth), where several celebrities, including Brady, sent their best wishes across to the 17-time WWE World Champion. In his remarks, Brady hopes that Cena’s final match will be better for him than he did with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Hey, John, congratulations on an incredible career,” Brady said. “You’ve impacted the lives of so many people inside the ring and outside the ring. Good luck in your last match. I hope you fare better in yours than I did in mine.”

Brady played his final match on January 16, 2023, in the NFC Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs. The Buccaneers lost against the Dallas Cowboys 31-14. In that game, Brady completed 35 of 66 passes for 351 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. It finally marked an end to Brady’s incredible career but with a loss. However, he expects better for Cena.

Tom Brady’s Former Rivals Also Wished John Cena Well For His Retirement Match

Tom Brady’s former rivals, the Manning brothers, also posted a video message for John Cena’s retirement. Eli Manning, in particular, took a jibe at the ’07 Patriots.

“You inspired so many people. You won a ton of championships. Almost impressive enough for me to forget the fact that you’re a diehard Patriots fan. But hey, I guess no one’s perfect, including the ’07 Patriots,” Manning said.

The 2007 Patriots mention came from Eli’s words because that season, his New York Giants defeated the Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII.

Musician Snoop Dogg also shared his well-wishes, saying:

“John Cena, it’s your boy, Vic, Snoop Dogg. You know what it is. Congratulations, my one. I’m gonna smoke one, matter of fact, I’m gonna blow one for the Pol One.”

Brady’s another former rival, Peyton Manning, had some advice for Cena:

“I gotta warn you: when you enter the grocery store or step into your garage, there’s no entrance music at all in retirement unless you play it yourself on your AirPods. So that’s a free tip from me to you. Congrats again, pal.”

American rapper and singer Jelly Roll thanked John Cena for entertaining millions of fans for so many years. He said:

“John Cena, the legendary, never-seen 17. Man, thank you for all these years. Thank you for the inspiration. Thank you for being the role model that we all needed. You deserve this, brother. Congratulations. Happy retirement.”

Late-night host Jimmy Fallon also congratulated Cena on an amazing WWE career:

“Congratulations, John, on an amazing career. What you’ve done for the sport and for WWE is just insane. You’re a legend. Congratulations.”

Despite the in-ring retirement, Cena will remain involved with WWE off-camera, including an ambassador role, mentoring talent, and promotional appearances under a new multi-year deal.
