"Texans OL Hates CJ Stroud": Fans React As Tykee Smith and Co. Dominate CJ Stroud With Multiple Sacks

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has been downed three times by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense in this week’s edition of Monday Night Football. The Texans lost the game 19-20, with their quarterback receiving a pounding from the opposing defense in what had been a strong outing from him otherwise.

Fans didn’t wait to make their opinions known on X, lamenting the poor protection Stroud received.

“The Texans OL hates CJ Stroud,” wrote one fan.

However, some believe Stroud himself is to blame for the sacks.

“Why does CJ Stroud hold the ball like he has 15 seconds to throw every drop back. His average hold time is 5-7 seconds then takes a sack. It’s every drive he does the same stupid thing. No wonder why Collins is over him,” explained someone.

“CJ Stroud takes worse sacks than anyone in the NFL. It’s atrocious,” complained a fan.

“never seen a qb take as many sacks as cj stroud good lord,” said someone.

“Stroud and the OL never seem to be on page with protections. It’s a complete joke of an operation. Makes matters even worse when CJ Stroud takes some of the worst coverage sacks you’ll ever see,” said one individual.

Sometimes, it’s better to just laugh it off.

“CJ Stroud not take a sack challenge level impossible,” joked one person.

How Many Sacks Has CJ Stroud Taken So Far This Season?

CJ Stroud has already been sacked six times this season, with three sacks in the Week 1 9-14 defeat against the LA Rams.

That, paired with 188 passing yards, no touchdowns, and an interception, made it a poor game for the Texans’ quarterback.

An interesting stat is that he has been pressured on 42% of dropbacks, showing how much opposing teams know that he struggles with the blitz. On Monday night, he was sacked three times, but one could say he was sacked four times, with the Buccaneers getting a hold of him during a late-game two-point conversion attempt following a rushing touchdown by Nick Chubb.

However, he isn’t the only one who has been heavily sacked on this Monday Night Football. Houston’s defense has gotten a hold of Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield on four occasions.
