Terry McLaurin Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Commanders WR Ahead of Week 7

Terry McLaurin entered the 2025 season as the centerpiece of Washington’s passing game, but things haven’t gone according to plan. After a rocky training camp and an early-season injury, his production has been limited.

The veteran receiver has played in only three games and hasn’t found the end zone yet, leaving fantasy owners frustrated and the Commanders without one of their most reliable weapons. His health has now become a major storyline heading into Week 7.

    What Happened to Terry McLaurin?

McLaurin’s season started on uneven footing. He missed part of training camp due to a contract-related holdout and an ankle issue that placed him on the physically unable to perform list. He returned before the regular season began, but his rhythm with the offense wasn’t fully there.

Then came a setback in Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders, when McLaurin went down with a quadriceps injury while trying to make a play near the goal line. The injury was significant enough to sideline him immediately, and he hasn’t played since.

Washington ruled him out for the following weeks as he recovered and worked on rebuilding strength in the leg. The Commanders have missed his ability to stretch the field and convert key downs, and his absence has been felt in both their offensive rhythm and red zone efficiency.

When Will Terry McLaurin Be Back?

McLaurin has been working his way back slowly. He recently returned to practice in a limited capacity, taking part in light drills and jog-through sessions. While that was a positive sign, Washington’s coaching staff remained cautious.

As per Ian Rapoport, coach Dan Quinn recently informed the reporters that he will be out on Sunday.

“It’s frustrating for him, because he’s working at it hard,” Quinn SAID after Friday’s practice. “With an injury like this, this is a speed player, and so on movements where you’re jogging or not fully there, it’s just not ready yet.”

Quinn stated that McLaurin wants to come back immediately, but playing around a sensitive injury can be tricky. That’s why the team is taking careful steps for now.

    Terry McLaurin Fantasy Outlook

For fantasy football managers, McLaurin’s injury has been a major headache. Before he got hurt, his target share was modest, and the offense had yet to find its rhythm. Now, after missing multiple games, it’s unclear how quickly he’ll regain his form once he’s back.

If you have McLaurin on your roster, the best move is to stay patient. He still has the talent to make an impact once healthy, but expectations should be tempered for his first few games back. As of now, he’s not going to be a part of the Cowboys matchup.
