The Cincinnati Bengals put up a good fight but ultimately failed to beat the best team in the NFL right now, the New England Patriots, on Sunday, as they fell 26-20. However, it also seems that the Bengals have lost even more during this game, as wide receiver Tee Higgins may have gotten injured and could possibly miss some games.
Higgins reportedly left the game during the fourth quarter and never returned, with him getting carted off.
He has had 35 receptions, 544 yards, and seven touchdowns this season, before getting concussed during that game against the Patriots. He averaged 15.5 yards per catch. The question now is, will he be able to play on Week 13?
What Happened To Tee Higgins?
Tee Higgins was injured with only 4:50 left in the fourth quarter, and this happened as quarterback Joe Flacco targeted him with a long pass that ultimately was incomplete. However, Higgins jumped in his catch attempt and landed awkwardly, hitting his head on the turf and was soon lying on the field motionless before officials and team staff came to check on him.
It was ultimately deemed a concussion, ruling him out of returning to the game. Because this was a concussion, Higgins is expected to undergo the league’s mandatory concussion protocols, as the NFL is taking these sorts of head injuries very seriously.
Is Tee Higgins Playing Week 13?
After his Week 12 concussion, it is still unclear if Tee Higgins would be allowed to play on Week 13, which will be against the Baltimore Ravens. Like everybody undergoing the NFL’s concussion protocols, he must clear a five-step process to even be allowed to practice, let alone play an actual game.
Tee Higgins Fantasy Outlook
While it is still unclear if Tee Higgins would be able to clear the concussion protocols in just one week, Fantasy managers better brace for him to be absent next week against the Ravens. It should be best to just sit the Bengals quarterback out, but it is still possible that he may be cleared to play, so waiting it out would also be a good option.
Best Waiver Wire Pickups To Replace Tee Higgins
With Tee Higgins possibly out, some Fantasy managers may opt to head to the waiver wire to look for a possible replacement, and the Bengals’ Andrei Iosivas has seen his stock rise of late because of Higgins’ concussion.
Iosivas is Higgins’ backup wide receiver and he has had four catches on seven targets for 61 yards this season so far.
