The Indianapolis Colts went from title contender to one of the teams already eliminated from playoff contention, and some players are not happy. One of them is cornerback Sauce Gardner, who has been known for not holding back on his opinions. He took to X to claim that unlike other cornerbacks, he has not been targeted as much despite his skills.
In a now-deleted post on social media, Sauce Gardner ranted that he does not get targeted as much as other cornerbacks while also stressing the importance of his position.
“i’ll go ahead and say the real since nobpdy else will because its me… I only have 32 targets. There are 0 CB’s that only had 32 targets thru 600+ snaps, I only had 22 targets thru 7 games. I DO NOT GET TARGETED AS MUCH AS 99.8% OF OTHER CBS in the leage… and only like 50% of those got completed,” he tweeted.
This was when he pointed out how important cornerbacks are on the defensive end, with him only allowing two touchdowns and only 208 yards all year. He then claimed that having a CB that could “take away half the field” is just as good as having a good quarterback. He then ended the tweet with a smiley face.

Gardner had missed three games due to a calf injury and was traded to the Colts from the Jets. He returned from injury last Sunday against the Jaguars but seemingly reinjured himself during the game, with him being taken out halfway through the game.
Shane Steichen Provides Injury Update On Sauce Gardner
Meanwhile, as Sauce Gardner ranted on his frustrations, Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen talked about Gardner’s injury, as he may have re-injured his calf after just returning from missing three games.
“(His) calf was just tight, so we just played it safe,” the coach said.
Gardner returned to practice last week, igniting the hope that he could finally return and against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had been a defensive monster for the team, only allowing five completions on 10 targets at 7.6 yards per attempt during his first three games with the team since getting traded from the Jets.
