“Have To Give Credit Where It’s Due”: Stephen A. Smith Makes Feelings On Donald Trump Very Clear Amid Gaza Hostages Release

Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith expressed his admiration for US President Donald Trump following his contribution to bring peace between Israel and Gaza. On Monday, a 20-point Gaza peace plan came to fruition. As per the agreement, all surviving Israeli hostages held by Hamas were released while Israel freed over 1,700 Palestinian detainees and prisoners. This deal was announced at a summit in Egypt, which Trump attended.

In the wake of this development, Trump is getting praise from all corners of the US, even from those who may not be fan of him. Smith is one among them but he too credited Trump for his peace efforts. While doing so, he also threw shade at previous administrations and their effort to broker peace in Middle East.

“There is no doubt that he has done more than practically any administration has tried to do when it comes to ending conflicts around the world,” Smith said on Fox News Digital. “And he’s put himself in a position where the political capital he stands to gain isn’t necessarily that great. So, his willingness to do so is obviously something that shouldn’t be ignored — and something that, dare I say, should be applauded to some degree.

“Again, that doesn’t mean I like everything he does. You and I can argue back and forth about a few things. But in the end, you are absolutely right when you point out that there’s not much to gain for him in a lot of this, yet he engages anyway. And you have to give credit where credit is due,” he added.

Stephen A. Smith’s Previous Critiques Of Trump’s Gaza Policy

Like many, even Stephen A. Smith voiced displeasure in February when Donald Trump announced his plans to redevelop Gaza Strip which has been a rubble of concrete and marble for most area due to their war with Israel. Trump said the US might take over Gaza, redevelop it, and relocate its Palestinian population.

In response to that, Smith called the plan “ridiculous” on his The Stephen A. Smith Show. He said:

“You have no business doing that. Do you understand how the Gaza Strip has been ravaged? Do you understand what that area of this world looks like right now? … You have any idea? Have you seen the footage? Have you seen the wreckage? It’s been reduced to rubble. It’s [un]inhabitable right now.”

However, it seems Smith has newfound respect for Trump following his efforts that he claimed he has brought about “the end of an age of terror.”
