Stephen A. Smith Unloads On Aaron Glenn’s Sideline Antics As Jets Fall to 0-4 Record After Disasterclass vs Miami: “It Ain’t Getting You Wins”

The New York Jets’ disastrous start to the season continued with a crushing loss to the Miami Dolphins, dropping their record to 0-4. The 27-21 defeat was defined by costly mistakes, a lack of discipline, and a continuation of the problems that have plagued the team all year.

Amid the struggles, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn found himself under fire. Known for his emotional sideline behavior and animated celebrations, Glenn has become a viral figure for his energy during games.

Against Miami, however, those antics were overshadowed by the collapse on the field. Critics argued that the passion was empty without results to back it up. Stephen A. Smith was among those who delivered sharp criticism. He pointed to the penalties, turnovers, and mental mistakes as evidence of poor coaching.

For him, Glenn’s emotional displays on the sideline meant little when the Jets were failing in the basics. The team’s repeated errors in critical moments were seen as a reflection of leadership falling short.

“It’s nice to see Aaron Glenn fit and running down the sideline and celebrating every little play with his histrionics or whatever, but damn it, that ain’t getting you wins,” Stephen A. said on his show. (17:39)

The Jets hurt themselves repeatedly with sloppy execution. They committed 13 penalties that added up to over 100 yards. They lost three fumbles, each one swinging momentum in Miami’s favor. The offense failed to capitalize in the red zone, going scoreless on two key trips.

The Jets now face mounting pressure with their season already slipping away. Glenn’s fiery personality has won attention, but with the Jets still winless, questions about whether he can turn passion into victories are beginning to dominate the conversation.

    Aaron Glenn on Officiating

Aaron Glenn admitted the officiating against Miami was frustrating, with several calls not going the Jets’ way. He stressed, however, that the team cannot dwell on what referees do or don’t call. His message was to focus on solutions rather than complaints.

Glenn acknowledged that penalties remain a major issue for the Jets, and is still working to eliminate unnecessary mistakes. He emphasized that many of the problems come from within, not just from officials.

“But I don’t want to put it all on that. I just want to talk about that in-house and make sure we do everything we can to clean those up,” he said.

While Aaron Glenn believes some missed calls hurt his team, he maintained that the Jets need to take accountability. For him, the priority is to handle issues in-house, clean up the penalties, and earn the right to get calls consistently in their favor.
