Two of the best statistical quarterbacks this season have been Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence and Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott.
While both teams are in different positions heading into Week 17 with the Jaguars having clinched a playoff berth and with Dallas being eliminated from the playoffs, both Lawrence and Prescott have favorable fantasy matchups.
Let’s explore their matchups and who the better start is for Week 17.
Trevor Lawrence Week 17 Projection, Fantasy Matchup
Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars play on the road against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday. This will be the second time this season that Jacksonville will be facing its division rival, with Lawrence completing 17-of-30 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns three weeks ago.
The Colts’ defense gives up the second most passing yards per game (250.7) and rank 18th in points allowed (23.4) and 25th in yards allowed (349.2.)
Lawrence has thrown for 3,489 yards, 26 touchdowns, and has rushed for seven this season.
Dak Prescott Week 17 Projection, Fantasy Matchup
Like Lawrence, Dak Prescott has a road divisional game this weekend, facing the Washington Commanders. The Commanders’ defense has struggled this season, ranking 27th in points allowed per game (26.9), 31st in yards allowed (382.7), and 26th in passing yards allowed per game (241.7.)
Facing Washington earlier this season, Prescott completed 21 of 30 passes for 264 yards and three passing touchdowns.
Prescott has thrown for 4,175 yards and 28 touchdowns while rushing for two this season.
Who Should I Start, Trevor Lawrence or Dak Prescott?
It’s tough to choose between starting Trevor Lawrence or Dak Prescott in fantasy football this week when both have favorable fantasy matchups.
In the last five games, Lawrence has been on a tear, throwing for 15 touchdowns to just three interceptions and throwing for 220+ yards in each of those games. Five of his seven rushing touchdowns this season have come in the last eight games.
Prescott has thrown seven touchdowns in the last five games but 250 more yards than Lawrence (1,588 to 1,338.)
Though either would be a good start, we’re going with the quarterback with the hotter hand in Lawrence.
