Should I Start Ray Davis or Ty Johnson In Week 10? Fantasy Matchups And RB Outlooks Explored

The Buffalo Bills have one of the best rush offenses in the NFL, and it’s backfield has been led by running back James Cook.

Cook is second in the NFL in rushing yards with 867, and has seven rushing touchdowns on the year. Quarterback Josh Allen is second on the team in rushing with 280 yards and also has seven rushing touchdowns.

The Bills‘ running back situation behind Cook is interesting. Backups Ty Johnson and Ray Davis have both been active for all eight games this season, but have had minimal production this season.

    Ray Davis Fantasy Outlook

Both Ray Davis and Ty Johnson haven’t had productive 2025 seasons. But that’s largely in part to how much Cook and Allen are used as rushers on the team. On the season, Davis has 22 carries for 46 yards and no rushing touchdowns. In the receiving department, he has three catches for 18 yards and a receiving touchdown on five targets.

Interestingly enough, Davis has had nine carries each in two games, and had a season-high 24 rushing yards in Week 2 against the New York Jets. Last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, he did not get a touch in the game.

    Ty Johnson Fantasy Outlook

Like Ray Davis, Ty Johnson has not been used much this season. Johnson only has 17 carries for 72 yards and a rushing touchdown. In the receiving game, he has four catches for 31 yards on nine targets.

Last week against the Chiefs, Johnson had four total touches and had a rushing touchdown.

    The Verdict

It’s tough feeling confident in starting one over the other, as both Ty Johnson and Ray Davis are hardly used. If a person has to choose between the two (and hopefully that isn’t the case), the safer smart might be Johnson.

Johnson is the more efficient rusher, averaging 4.2 yards per carry compared to Davis’ 2.1 yards per carry average. Johnson also recently scored a touchdown as he scored in last week’s game against the Chiefs. He seems like he would be used more likely than Davis at the goal line.
