Should I Start Darren Waller or Colby Parkinson In Week 16? Fantasy Matchups And TE Outlooks Explored

Two tight ends that have emerged from the woodworks this season have been Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller and Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson.

For Parkinson, he’s having a breakout season in his sixth NFL season. In his second season as a Ram, he’s set a new career-high in receiving touchdowns and receptions and is on the way to setting a new career-high in receiving yards.

Waller made his return back to the NFL after stepping away following the 2023 season and being away from football last season. He was traded from the New York Giants to the Miami Dolphins this offseason and has been a good addition in the passing game for Miami.

As both tight ends prepare for their Week 16 matchups, let’s a take a look at who the better start is.

    Darren Waller Fantasy Outlook

Darren Waller has been a touchdown machine this season. Playing in just seven games, he has six receiving touchdowns on the season, including two two touchdown reception games. In total, he’s scored in four of the seven games he’s been active for.

In addition, Waller has 20 receptions on 26 targets for 243 receiving yards this season. Miami faces the struggling Cincinnati Bengals defense this Sunday.

    Colby Parkinson Fantasy Outlook

Colby Parkinson has played in five more games this season than Waller, recording 31 receptions on 38 targets for 298 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. Parkinson didn’t record his first receiving touchdown this season until Week 7, but since has scored in five of the team’s last six games. The Rams have a marquee matchup against the Seattle Seahawks this Thursday night.

Should I Start Darren Waller or Colby Parkinson In Week 16?

The numbers between Darren Waller and Colby Parkinson are very similar, and either tight end would be solid start in Week 16. It’s tough to decide who to start between the two, but Parkinson seems to be the safer pick.

Parkinson has shown consistency, scoring six touchdowns in the last six games. Meanwhile, four of Waller’s six touchdowns have come in two games.

Waller is more of a boom start than Parkinson, but Parkinson seems to be the safer, more consistent start.
