Shedeur Sanders’ Browns Starting Role Under Jeopardy As Kevin Stefanski Makes Dillon Gabriel Announcement

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is not escaping the allegations that he is anti-Shedeur Sanders, as he may be preventing the former Colorado standout from finally getting his first start of the season. Browns QB1 Dillon Gabriel had been undergoing concussion protocols, which meant that Sanders, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, will finally get a crack at being a starter.

However, Stefanski announced that he will start Gabriel if the quarterback clears his mandatory concussion protocol and be allowed to play. This comes amid a lot of criticism from fans as Gabriel had struggled since taking on the starter role and Stefanski refused to let Sanders get his chance to prove himself.

There is a five-phase process that Dillon Gabriel must pass should he want to clear the concussion protocol. Should he clear it, Sanders, who had a few chances of practicing with the starters, will not get the start that fans want him to have.

Gabriel went out with the concussion during the third quarter, with Sanders replacing him soon after. However, he struggled during that 23-16 loss to the resurgent Baltimore Ravens at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday. He only threw 4-of-16 for 47 yards during that game, and he was also intercepted once and sacked twice.

Soon after the game, Stefanski told reporters that despite the concussion to Gabriel, the QB1 would still retain his spot as soon as he is fit to return, frustrating fans.

Shedeur Sanders Gives Honest Assessment Of His NFL Debut

Shedeur Sanders also spoke with reporters after that tough loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and the quarterback was very honest about how he fared, admitting to reporters that he did not do too well on Sunday.

“I don’t think I played good at all,” he said.

Despite this, reports indicated that the Browns have not been giving Sanders the proper amount of development, as he has had very few reps with the starters ahead of the game. He admitted after the game that when he threw to Jerry Jeudy in the fourth quarter, this was the first time he had done so.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski has been accused of mishandling Sanders ever since they drafted him, with the team not letting him practice with the starters and build up chemistry with them being the biggest example.
