“See My Faults”: Shedeur Sanders Gets 100% Real On Struggles Following 1st Career Loss vs 49ers

Shedeur Sanders received the nod ahead of Dillon Gabriel to start for the Cleveland Browns against the San Francisco 49ers. Sanders entered this game with high confidence after registering a win in his first career start against the Las Vegas Raiders.

However, his second career NFL start was a disaster. In the 26-8 loss, the Browns quarterback completed 16 of 25 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown. The only score for Cleveland was on Sanders’ 34-yard touchdown pass, followed by a two-point conversion before halftime.

Ahead of the game against the Tennessee Titans, Sanders gave his honest reflection, highlighting his weaknesses that he needs to overcome in order to do better next time.

“I see my faults and I see, you know, what I do good and what I need to work on,” Sanders said. “Sometimes I look for the big play, and I do that when I feel like I’m pressing…that’s something I review with myself, and I know in those situations, I can’t do that at certain times.”

Meanwhile, in the post-game interview, Sanders acknowledged his shortcomings in the loss vs 49ers.

“Life’s difficult, in general, so that’s not a big problem to me,” Sanders said. “I’ve just got to be better, overall. I’ve got to be able to rally everybody together when adversity is hitting. Even when I’m off, I got great teammates around me [who are] able to pick me up and keep going.”

“I’m sure everybody’s frustrated now,” Sanders added. “It’s easy for everybody to jump on board. I think we all want to win. I think that’s what Cleveland, the coaches, that’s what everybody wants to win. I feel like we will be able to do what’s necessary to get that result.”

Shedeur Sanders To Get Another Opportunity vs Titans

Despite the loss, the Browns are trusting Shedeur Sanders with another opportunity for the game against the Titans. This means Dillon Gabriel, who returned from a concussion, will have to warm the bench for the second straight game as the backup quarterback.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has confirmed that Sanders will receive another start. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has also reported that the Browns are willing to get an extended look at Sanders before they decide between him and Gabriel.

The game against the Titans will be Sanders’ opportunity to stamp his authority on the job. Another loose game might send him back in the pecking order.
