Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders was extremely confident while talking with reporters following his 24-10 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Browns’ rookie became the first since 1995 in the club to win their debut game.
Sanders threw for 209 yards, one touchdown, and an interception on 11 of 20 attempts in the win. In the post-game handshake moment, Sanders met with Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, who made multiple close calls with the rookie during the match.
Sanders got playful in the game-end conversation, telling Crosby (23:00):
“Why you tried to hit the s**t out of me.”
To this, Crosby replied:
“It’s what the f–k I do”
Before going in different directions, Crosby tapped on Sanders’ shoulders, saying:
“Good game.”
There was a mutual respect on either side.
This playful conversation is in line with Crosby’s pregame comments, where he warned the Browns’ rookie quarterback to be wary of his presence. He also added:
“Young guys are a little unpredictable at times. He has had a lot of success at the college level, and he is getting his first start. So, it is going to be a fun battle.”
Shedeur Sanders’ Defiant Message After First Win
Shedeur Sanders made his first appearance in the NFL last week, coming out against the Baltimore Ravens after starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion.
Sanders took over when the game was 16-10 in favor of the Browns. However, he couldn’t live up to the expectation and went on to lose the game 23-16. In that loss, Sanders could only complete 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards, while throwing two interceptions.
On Sunday, he was asked to start the game against the Raiders and he looked solid. Ahead of the game, he said:
“I’m who they been looking for.”
Sanders did exactly what he was confident about, landing Browns a win. In the post-game interview, he said:
“A lot of people wanted to see me fail. It ain’t gonna happen… The fact that I got an opportunity and I was able to show the organization, show everybody who I really am, it’s truly exciting.”
Sanders also admitted the past few months weren’t smooth, saying:
“I was off balance for a little bit, the past couple of months. My life, it was different, but I’m thankful to be back where I am.”
It remains to be seen if the Browns keep him as QB1 or they turn to Gabriel again once he returns from a concussion.
