Coach Prime’s Son Shedeur Sanders Makes Feelings Very Clear on Practice Squad Reps as Cleveland QB Misses Out On Game Day Spot

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has not had the opportunity to start in the NFL, unlike when he played for the Colorado Buffaloes under his father, Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime. Instead, he is third on the QB depth chart behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel. As a result, he has needed to hone his craft with practice squad reps.

On Sunday, after he missed out on the game day spot for the week, Sanders spoke with the media. He spoke about how he has enjoyed playing with the practice squad because of how many reps he gets. He also believes that many of the receivers he has played with are excellent; they just need an opportunity to shine. However, he did not say that about himself; that is likely how Sanders feels about getting an opportunity to start for the Browns.

“I look at it as I have six games a week, so I’m happy rather than just having one game a week on the weekend,” Shedeur Sanders said. “So, the scout team, all of us, we know like every day’s game day. And we definitely like approach everything in that fashion and everything because I truly believe the receivers we have on the scout team is really explosive and really great, they just need the opportunity. So, yeah, I’m very thankful I have those guys out there with me whenever I’m out there competing.”

Shedeur Sanders Has Entered Trade Rumors

While Shedeur Sanders is working hard on the practice squad, he likely would not be upset if he got an opportunity on another team. With the Browns starting 0-2, they are likely going to be in a position to draft high in the 2026 NFL draft. As a result, they will need to decide if they want to take a chance on a quarterback at the top of the draft.

If they like one of the top QB options, they could look to trade one or both of Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. While both players have potential, they do not have the pedigree of a top draft pick. Sanders was listed as a potential trade chip for the Browns in an article by ESPN’s Dan Graziano on Friday.
