The Cleveland Browns received a positive injury update about rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback missed the Browns’ Week 8 game against the New England Patriots due to a back issue. The team listed him on the injury report and elevated Bailey Zappe from the practice squad as the backup.
Amid this, a positive update has come along. According to ESPN Cleveland, Sanders is expected to practice on Thursday for the Browns.

The back injury isn’t new for Sanders. Earlier in the preseason as well, Sanders dealt with an oblique injury. Sanders, who was picked by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft, is yet to make his NFL debut as he continues to be behind fellow third round pick Dillon Gabriel in the depth chart.
Browns HC On Shedeur Sanders’ Practice
Earlier, Shedeur Sanders returned to practice for Week 10 game in limited capacity. The Browns want to check if Sanders’ back holds up during practice before giving him back his QB2 role. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski also talked about Sanders’ recovery after Wednesday’s practice.
“We need to see how he responds,” Stefanski told reporters. “Obviously, he’s pushing very hard in rehab, but we need to see how he does over the next couple of days.”
In a Youtube video released by Studstillviewz, Shedeur Sanders revealed that he visited Boulder last weekend to visit his old stomping grounds and even attended the game at Folsom Fields against the Arizona Wildcats.
“The plan wasn’t to go at all. I was a little mad, I was a little cooked because I’m dealing with this back stuff… One morning, I just thought about it. ‘What if I just fly to Boulder and go back home same day?'” Shedeur said.
Over the last few weeks, Sanders has been receiving support from several NFL analysts regarding his NFL debut already amid weak performances from Gabriel, who threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, in Week 8’s 32-13 loss.
It remains to be seen if another loss under Gabriel could lead to Stefanski finally handing the job to Shedeur Sanders.
