Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Debut Drawing Donald Trump’s Attention Sets Fans Abuzz: “Loves Taking Credit for Sh*t”

The Cleveland Browns clinched their third win of the 2025 NFL campaign with quarterback Shedeur Sanders guiding them to a convincing 24-10 win against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, becoming the first Cleveland quarterback since 1999 to win his inaugural NFL start.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump, who has historically been a vocal supporter of Shedeur Sanders and his father, Deion Sanders, recently took to social media shortly after the game, writing:

“Shedeur Sanders was GREAT. Wins first game, career start, as a pro (for Cleveland). Great Genes. I TOLD YOU SO!”

This prompted a lot of fans to react to Trump’s comments on X, writing:

“That ni**a loves taking credit for shit huh”, stated a fan.

“Why does he keep talking bout genes “, said a fan.

“Shedeur FC has the president in it, yeah we run this league now”, remarked a fan.

“All the black shedeur fans gonna be mad Trump supports him lmao”, commented a fan.

“So much aura, you got the president commenting “, stated another fan.

“Someone tell him to please stay over there. We don’t need his approval or praises”, said another fan.

“He knows ball”, remarked another fan.

“Trump a Shedeur believer”, commented another fan.

The 23-year-old quarterback’s first start saw him complete 11 of 20 passes for 209 yards, throwing one touchdown against one interception. One of the highlights of Sanders’ day came as he threw a deep ball of over 50 yards to wide receiver Isaiah Bond, resulting in a touchdown.

He started the season as the Browns’ fourth-string quarterback, and with veteran Joe Flacco’s trade to the Bengals earlier this year, he climbed to second string behind Dillon Gabriel.

NFL Teams Previously Slammed by Trump for Passing on Shedeur

Trump’s “TOLD YOU SO” part of his congratulatory message to Shedeur is a call back to a previous message of his earlier this year. This is not the first time President Trump has showered praise on Shedeur, as back in April this year, he called out NFL teams for not picking Shedeur Sanders earlier in the draft, calling them “stupid.”

He also praised Shedeur’s father, Hall of Famer, Deion Sanders, as “a very good coach” whilst also stating how Shedeur has phenomenal genes.

The win over the Raiders also placed Sanders in rare historical record as he became only the second son of a Pro Football Hall of Famer to start at quarterback in an NFL game, joining Brian Griese.

Shedeur Sanders was drafted in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns as the 144th overall pick.
