Will Saquon Barkley Play Sunday vs. Commanders? What You Need To Know About Eagles RB Ahead Of Week 18

The Philadelphia Eagles will be heading to Week 18 as the No. 3 seed in the NFC, but they have a chance to take the No. 2 seed. However, the team is also resting a few starters, and one of them could be superstar running back Saquon Barkley. Him resting could provide a chance for the Commanders to pull off the upset and have the Eagles possibly stuck at No. 3.

Now, Saquon Barkley has had a bit of a slow season, but he has still proven to be one of the best running backs out there and a big part of the Eagles’ offense. With the Eagles announcing that they will be resting some of their best players for Week 18, will he be one of them?

There is no official word yet as to who will be sitting out, but Saquon Barkley is expected to be one of those players sitting out. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is also expected to be sat out, along with wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, center Cam Jurgens, left guard Landon Dickerson, and Reed Blankenship.

“At the end of the day, it’s not a guarantee that we can get the No. 2 seed, but I can guarantee that I can rest the starters,” head coach Nick Sirianni said. “[I] just thought that was the best thing for our football team right there.”

While some of the big names and veterans are sitting this one out, a few of their younger starters, such as Jordan Davis, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean could get some playing time, but maybe not as much as they do usually.

Resting Could Cost Saquon Barkley $250,000

Resting Saquon Barkley could be a positive for the Eagles as this could mean that he will not possibly get hurt ahead of the playoffs. Financially, however, this could be a bad thing for Saquon himself, as he has an incentive that he is trying to get, which he might not achieve if he sits out.

Barkley has an incentive that would give him an additional $250,000 if he hits 1,500 scrimmage yards this season, and he only needs 87 yards to hit that, a feat he has proven to get in a single game. With him sitting, he might not get injured, but he would also lose out on a vary big payday.
