Saquon Barkley has been one of the key reasons behind the Philadelphia Eagles’ strong start to the 2025 season. With a 6-2 record, the Eagles currently lead the NFC East and continue to look like one of the top contenders in the conference.
Barkley’s combination of power and agility has been central to the team’s offensive balance, giving Jalen Hurts crucial support in both the running and passing game. However, Sunday’s win over the New York Giants came with a late injury scare.
The Eagles dominated their division rivals 38-20, and Barkley was once again at the heart of it. He rushed for 150 yards and added a touchdown before leaving the game in the third quarter with what was later confirmed as a groin injury.
Barkley slowed up after a play and jogged off the field, visibly frustrated but without needing assistance. He was quickly taken to the medical tent, where trainers evaluated his groin. The running back did not return to the game, though the Eagles were already in control of the outcome.
As per Ian Rapoport, Barkley’s injury isn’t serious, and the fans have nothing to worry about.
“My understanding is had the game been a little closer, it’s likely that Saquon would’ve returned,” Rapoport said. “That is an indication that it’s not a major injury and really not something to worry about for the Philadelphia Eagles.

With a bye week coming, Barkley will have enough time to recover and be prepared for the Packers game. The extra week off should help him recover in time for the next matchup.
While Philadelphia avoided the worst-case scenario, all eyes will remain on Barkley’s health as the Eagles aim to maintain their momentum in the NFC playoff race.
Landon Dickerson Had Faith in Saquon Barkley
After weeks of frustration, Saquon Barkley finally looked like his old self against the Giants. The Eagles star exploded for 150 rushing yards and two total touchdowns in the 38-20 victory, delivering his first 100-yard rushing game of the season.
It also marked the first time he broke off multiple runs of 20-plus yards, proving his burst and power are still very much intact. Even though not everyone believed that Barkley could turn up this season, Landon Dickerson knew it was only a matter of time.
“I mean, I told you all it was the same Saquon,” Dickerson said, via Zach Berman of The Athletic. “Nobody wanted to believe me.”
Through the first seven weeks, Barkley had struggled to find rhythm and consistency. His workload had dipped compared to his debut season in Philadelphia, and his efficiency numbers were well below expectations.
But his Week 8 performance served as a reminder that the 28-year-old remains one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers when healthy and in sync with the offensive line.
