Is Rome Odunze Playing This Week? What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Bears WR Status

In his second season in the NFL, Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze has seemed to elevate his game to the next level.

After being a first-round pick and top-10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Odunze had had a solid rookie season, recording 54 catches for 734 yards and three receiving touchdowns. This season in 12 games played, Odunze has 44 receptions for 661 yards and six receiving touchdowns.

Odunze plays a big part in a Chicago offense that is fifth in the league in yards per game on offense. He’s also had been recently playing with a nagging injury since October.

    Rome Odunze Injury Update

Since late October, Odunze has been dealing with reoccurring foot injuries. Odunze was ruled out of the Bears’ Week 14 loss to the Green Bay Packers dealing with the nagging foot injury.

After participating in practice in a limited capacity leading up the Bears’ Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns, Odunze was made active that Sunday morning. However, he re-aggravated his foot in pre-game warmups and forced him to miss Sunday’s game.

Is Rome Odunze Playing In Week 16?

No, Rome Odunze will not be playing in Week 16. Odunze missed the team’s Wednesday practice and was ruled out a day later when the Bears released its Thursday injury report.

The Bears’ WR corps took another hit as Luther Burden III was also ruled out (ankle) for Saturday’s game, leaving quarterback Caleb Williams will be without two of his top targets.

The Bears could keep Odunze for an extended period of time as head coach Ben Johnson said “all options are on the table” regarding how the team will move forward with Odunze’s injury.

Heading into Saturday’s Week 16 game against the Packers, the Bears hold a half game lead in first place in the NFC North standings with a 10-4 record. Green Bay is right behind them with a 9-4-1 record. The winner of Saturday’s game will take sole possession of first place in the division.
