The Carolina Panthers held their usual practice on Wednesday as they prepare for their Week 11 showdown against the Atlanta Falcons. With that practice also comes their first injury report of the week, and one name there in particular made fans and Fantasy managers worry, and that is Rico Dowdle.
Reports indicated that Dowdle did not practice on Wednesday, causing many to question if he will be available on Sunday, as the team takes on the Atlanta Falcons.
What Happened to Rico Dowdle?
The Carolina Panthers’ injury report on Wednesday listed that he was dealing with a quadriceps issue, and this was the reason why he did not practice. Not much information has been revealed about his injury for now, but Dowdle has been getting the lion’s share of carries for the Panthers and has been known to play through painful injuries.
Despite this, Associated Press sports writer Steve Reed has reported that while he did not practice on Wednesday, he should be good to go by Thursday.

Is Rico Dowdle Playing This Week?
Reports indicated that Rico Dowdle’s injury is nothing too serious, and despite not practicing on Wednesday and appearing on the injury report, it is more than likely that he would still play in Week 11. Still, there is a chance that he might not play against the Falcons at all, but that chance is slim, as the Panthers are doing things carefully when it comes to their veteran running back.
Things might get clearer on Thursday’s practice, though the team is not taking his injury too seriously, so he will likely play.
Rico Dowdle Fantasy Outlook
For his Fantasy outlook, Rico Dowdle is more than likely to play, so Fantasy managers should not be too concerned. He has been putting up the work for the team over the last few weeks, and the Panthers may just be resting him up so he can be fresh and healthy on Sunday.
Fantasy Replacement If Rico Dowdle Misses Week 11
While it is still unlikely that Dowdle will be missing action against the Falcons on Week 11, the person most likely to be a suitable replacement for him is his backup, Chuba Hubbard, who is actually more injury-prone than Dowdle. Still, Hubbard is a solid backup so if Dowdle does miss Sunday’s game, Hubbard should be a decent pickup.
