Rex Ryan Boldly Criticizes $40,000,000 Head Coach Following Ravens’ Devastating 28–24 Loss

The Baltimore Ravens had yet another disappointing Sunday afternoon, as they lost to the New England Patriots 28-24. The manner in which they lost was baffling to everybody, as they had led the Patriots 24-21 until 2:07 in the fourth quarter.

Something was surprising for everyone watching the game. For the last part of the game, Derrick Henry was nowhere to be seen for the Ravens. Henry is by far the best offensive player the franchise has had this season, not bringing him on for the fourth quarter of the game seems like outright negligence by coach John Harbaugh.

On Monday’s edition of ESPN’s “Get UP” former NFL coach Rex Ryan lambasted Harbaugh with a touch of irony for not playing his best player in the key moments of the game:

“With 12 minutes left in the game, Derrick Henry not on the field. Why? Do you expect him to be on the field? He’s averaging seven and a half yards a carry. Why the hell would he be on the field to close out a team? I don’t know. Just brilliant coaching.” (7:00)

Despite not playing for a significant chunk of the fourth quarter, Henry was the best performer for Baltimore on Sunday. The running back recorded 128 rushing yards, with two touchdowns in 18 carries. If anything, it makes the decision by John Harbaugh, who’s worth $40 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, to leave him out of the game all the more outrageous.

John Harbaugh Admits Responsibility Following Baltimore Ravens’ Defeat

It isn’t as if the Baltimore Ravens’ head coach is oblivious to his role in the team’s defeat. He admitted as much when talking to the press in the game’s aftermath.

“Tough loss,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “We didn’t do the winning things we need to do. We made some mistakes that cost us.”

The defeat puts the Ravens’ postseason hopes on life support, and the injury to quarterback Lamar Jackson on Sunday makes things all the more dire for the franchise. During the second quarter of the game, Jackson was kneed in the back by a Patriots defender. Eventually, he was forced off the field, and it remains to be seen how the back injury will impact his availability.
