The Seattle Seahawks secured Rashid Shaheed before the trade window came to a close. Seattle sent 2026 fourth and fifth-round picks to the New Orleans Saints for Shaheed. The wide receiver is rostered in over 65% on ESPN leagues and many owners are wondering if the trade will help or hurt their teams. Below is the full breakdown of the Rashid Shaheed trade.
Fantasy Outlook
The Good
Shaheed has had a great season so far for a WR2. He ranked 24th in overall yards at 499 and 18th in receptions with 44. His fit with the Seahawks could be dangerous, as he would be paired alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Based on his former pairing with Chris Olave, it is safe to say Shaheed can succeed as the No. 2 receiver.
The Seahawks’ receivers are battered with injuries right now. They had three receivers out in the game against Washington on Sunday, including Cooper Kupp. The Seahawks have managed, but adding a secure receiver with an already hot pass game should lead to good things.
Shaheed could be upgraded in most leagues as the Seahawks have a better supporting staff than the Saints. Sam Darnold will be throwing the ball instead of Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler. That alone should help Shaheed grab a few more targets. Seattle also ranks fourth in passing yards per game, averaging just over 255, which is much better than the Saints’ 196 yards per game, 22nd in the league.
The Bad
The issue with this trade for the Shaheed owners should be the weapons that Seattle has. Tory Horton had a breakout game last week and definitely could be in the mix for an increased target share. Cooper Kupp is another option that owners might be mindful of if he can get healthy.
Seattle usually stays away from three receiver sets, which is going to limit the production of the WR2. If Shaheed can wrestle the job away from Kupp and Horton, he shouldn’t have a problem. If he can’t, it could be an issue for owners moving forward.
Bottom Line
Shaheed should be in the FLEX or WR3 spot for most owners, as there isn’t a lot to work with right now. The Seahawks should be able to bolster his numbers as they throw more than the Saints, but they also have more weapons. For now, Shaheed owners should simply wait and see how he plays. His playmaking ability and deep ball threat are still issues that owners could use in the long run.
