Denver star cornerback Patrick Surtain has missed the past two games for the Broncos. He has been sidelined because of a pectoral strain, and now it is unclear if he will be available on Sunday when the Broncos take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Here is an update on his status ahead of Week 11.
What Happened to Patrick Surtain?
In Week 8, Patrick Surtain suffered a pectoral strain. He has missed the past two games as a result of the injury. While he has been effective for the Broncos when he is in the lineup, they have managed to win without him. In the past two games, the Broncos defeated the Texans 18-15 and the Raiders 10-7. However, that does not mean the Broncos do not want their star CB back in the lineup.
Is Patrick Surtain Playing This Week vs. Chiefs?
Patrick Surtain is unlikely to play on Sunday against the Chiefs. His initial return timeline was set a four to six weeks. While he did not require surgery, his injury was expected to keep him out for at least a month. He suffered the injury on Oct. 26, so it is still a few weeks away from his expected return date.

No surgery is needed, but I’m told the reigning Defensive Player of the Year will get a second opinion this week to confirm the timeline. pic.twitter.com/VeaYpWpyjF

Surtain has still been unable to return to practice for the Broncos. On Wednesday, he was a DNP, and that is not expected to change this week. He will likely need to get a few practices in for him to enter the lineup. So, while he has not been officially ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, if he does not practice on Thursday or Friday, he will not be in a position to make an early return to the lineup.
Surtain played well before his injury, registering 27 total tackles, including 21 solo efforts, this season.
