One of several teams that’s been hit with the injury plague at the running back position this season is the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers had veteran running back Najee Harris suffer a season-ending Achille injury in Week 3, and then just two games later, rookie running back Omarion Hampton suffered an injury that’s since kept him sidelined.
Since then, the Chargers have had to rely on backups Kimani Vidal and Jaret Patterson in their absences.
Omarion Hampton Injury Update
During the Los Angeles Chargers’ Week 5 game against the Washington Commanders, Omarion Hampton suffered an ankle injury. He was later seen in a walking boot after the game and then later placed on injured reserve.
Below is the play in the game against the Commanders where it is believed Hampton suffered the injury. It appeared he got clipped and tripped up by a Commanders defender while running a route.

Came up limping and favoring his Left foot.
Looks like he gets clipped by the defender into his route. Probably more of a pain deal versus actual injury. pic.twitter.com/RxUNtHHjHq— Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT (@jmthrivept) October 5, 2025
Is Omarion Hampton Playing Week 14?
As a result of the ankle injury and being placed on injured reserve, Omarion Hampton has missed the past seven games for the Los Angeles Chargers. While there was a chance that he would play in Week 13, the Chargers decided to sideline him for another week. The expectation is he makes his return this Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Omarion Hampton Fantasy Outlook
Since he only played in five games prior to his injury, there’s a small sample size on Omarion Hampton‘s fantasy projection. In the five games he’s played in, Hampton rushed for 314 yards on 66 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. He rushed for a pair of touchdowns while adding 20 receptions for 136 yards.
Backup running back Kimani Vidal (543 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns) has emerges as RB1 with Hampton and Najee Harris sidelined. With Hampton likely making his return back this weekend, the Chargers may look to split the load. With that in mind, it might not be the smartest to start Hampton in fantasy this weekend.
