Referees are an important part of NFL games as they make sure the rules are upheld and make calls that can make or break a game. The referee assignments for each game on Week 12 have been revealed, and these are the ones calling the Sunday and Monday games:
Week 12 NFL Referee Assignments
Steelers at Bears: John Hussey
John Hussey is known to be a fair referee, though home teams have better chances of winning when he oversees games, as home teams are 102-46 with him as the referee.
Patriots at Bengals: Land Clark
Land Clark will be referring the Patriots vs. Bengals game for the second year in a row, and it does not look good for the Bengals as they are 1-4 when he is the referee, while the Patriots are 4-2.
Giants at Lions: Craig Wrolstad
Wrolstad is known for throwing around penalty flags but has been lenient so far this season, with his crew only having 118 accepted penalties in ten games. He was second in the league last year.
Vikings at Packers: Carl Cheffers
Cheffers is known to be a very controversial referee, as he had called a combined 14 penalties during the times the Chiefs and the Bills played one another in 2021 and 2023. He has been confronted by coaches and players with his officiating, and how he will call the Packers vs. Vikings game might be interesting.
Colts at Chiefs: Alex Moore
Moore and his crew are currently ranked No. 1 in penalty per game average this season, and he has been tasked with refereeing one with possible playoff impacts.
Seahawks at Titans: Ron Torbert
A veteran referee who started refereeing in 1989 at the high school level, he has gotten the honor for refereeing Super Bowl LIX. His refereeing is expected to be fair at the Seahawks vs. Titans game.
Jets at Ravens: Clete Blakeman
Blakeman previously raised eyebrows when he called the Indianapolis Colts vs. Atlanta Falcons game in Germany, as he seemingly looked thrown off as he gave the Colts the OT coin toss choice, and they had to redo it because of his mistake.
Jaguars at Cardinals: Scott Novak
Novak currently ranks ninth in accepted penalties per game, averaging 13.5, but he ranks eighth in flags per game at 16.5.
Browns at Raiders: Shawn Hochuli
This game will be Shedeur Sanders’ debut as a starter, and Hochuli has ranked third, first, and fourth over the last three seasons for calling roughing the passer penalties, though it was noted that his tendencies to make these kinds of calls have declined this season.
Eagles at Cowboys: Bill Vinovich
Vinovich has one of the most experienced crews in the NFL today, with members of his crew averaging over 21 seasons of experience already. It would only be fitting that he calls this storied rivalry game.
Falcons at Saints: Brad Rogers
Rogers’ crew averages 13.3 penalties and ranks No. 6 in the league in flag volume, so how he calls this game should be interesting.
Buccaneers at Rams: Clay Martin
Martin’s crew is known for looking more at false start-offensive holding combinations, with these calls averaging 40.5% of all the penalties they call.
Panthers at 49ers: Alex Kemp
Alex Kemp also raised eyebrows earlier this month as he reportedly had an “absolutely terrible” pass interference call during the Lions vs. Eagles game, a call which he has defended.
