NFL Insider Drops Blunt but Realistic Take on Shedeur Sanders’ Chances of Starting at Cleveland

Shedeur Sanders refused to join the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft in hopes of landing at a place where he would not have to be the backup quarterback all the time.

Unfortunately, his wish has not been fulfilled in Cleveland either. He was first named the QB3 behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel.

After Flacco’s exit from the Browns, Shedeur was promoted to be the QB2. However, Dillon Gabriel started the last four games, despite struggling in a couple of them. The ex-Colorado star has not been given the opportunity to play a snap.

After Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski said he is not thinking about Shedeur Sanders right now, NFL insider Mike Florio dropped his take on the ex-Colorado star’s chances of getting on the field in the near future.

“Four games likely aren’t enough to make any decisions regarding whether Gabriel can develop into a long-term starter. Still, at 2-6, the Browns are likely not competing for a playoff spot in the ultra-competitive AFC. At some point, it will make sense to see what Sanders can do,” Florio said.

“Gabriel has shown flashes of potential, and the failure to win games is far from being his fault. The Browns simply aren’t good enough across the board (except Myles Garrett and maybe one or two others),” Floria added.

Deion Sanders’ Advice to Shedeur Sanders Amid Browns’ Struggles

During his appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” show on Oct. 7, Deion Sanders talked about Shedeur’s situation with the Browns and shared his advice. Coach Prime urged Shedeur Sanders to be patient and ready. He told Shedeur to be ready for the time when his name is called.

He further predicted that Shedeur is going to get his shot soon and that he is going to get an opportunity to play this year.

“Be patient and be ready. You got to be ready when it’s time. But when it’s time, you’re going to know. And it’s coming up. I got a prediction. I ain’t telling nobody. I got a feeling when it’s going to go down. But it’s going to go down this year. … He’s going to get a shot,” Sanders said.

After a bye week, the Browns will face the New York Jets in Week 10, with Dillon Gabriel as QB1.
