Mike Evans Injury Update: Latest on Buccaneers WR’s Status and Fantasy Outlook

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been severely plagued by injuries, including wide receiver Mike Evans, who went down on Week 7 and missed Week 8. However, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being on a bye week, it gives him and the team’s other injured stars more time to rest and heal up their injuries.

Evans had been one of quarterback Backer Mayfield’s favorite targets this season with 140 receiving yards on 14 receptions, with one touchdown. His absence is considered a big loss for the Bucs as they return for Week 10 against the New England Patriots. He is just one of the injured wide receivers in Tampa bay’s roster, including Chris Godwin Jr.

    What Happened to Mike Evans?

Mike Evans was hit hard while contesting a ball during the second quarter of the Bucs’ Monday Night Football game against the Detroit Lions on Week 7. He suffered not just a concussion, but it was also confirmed that he broke his collarbone in that hit.

He underwent surgery and is expected to miss several weeks. He previously missed three weeks earlier in the season due to a separate hamstring injury.

When is Mike Evans Coming Back?

The projection for his return is around eight weeks, with him probably coming back around December. The two likeliest games he could return in would be the TNF home game against the Atlanta Falcons on Week 15 or the Week 16 road game against the Carolina Panthers. He has been placed in the injured reserve, so he is not expected to come back any time soon.

Still, these are the optimistic projections of when he will come back. It is also possible that Evans may return around the playoffs, which should be timely given that the Buccaneers, despite being depleted by injuries, are playoff contenders and are currently sitting atop NFC South.

    Mike Evans Fantasy Outlook

It is not looking good, as he may possibly miss over a month’s worth of action. It is safe to drop him for now or sit him and keep him until he returns from injury around December.

    Fantasy Replacements For Mike Evans

For the Bucs, the team has Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard stepping up for their injured wide receivers, so Fantasy managers have them as good options for pickups or as starters. For waiver wire targets. Cade Otton and Kayshon Boutte may be good replacements as well.
