Mike Evans Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Buccaneers WR Ahead of Week 8

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of the most consistent teams this season, and wide receiver Mike Evans has been a big part of the team’s offense. However, his impact has only come when he is available, and he has been limited in that area this season. Evans, who returned on Monday after missing several games with another injury, suffered a broken collarbone in a 24-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. The injury is expected to sideline him for most of the rest of the season.

    What Happened to Mike Evans?

Mike Evans was tackled by Detroit cornerback Rock Ya-Sin on a deep pass. Evans’ head hit the ground hard as he and Ya-Sin fell out of the air. While Ya-Sin got up immediately, Evans stayed down. He was down for several seconds, grimacing but not moving.

Evans was tended to by the athletic training staff before being helped off the field. It was later revealed that Evans broke his collarbone on the play. He also reportedly sustained a concussion on the play.

When Will Mike Evans Be Back?

Following the game, head coach Todd Bowles spoke to the media and provided an update on Evans. He told reporters that he is likely out until toward the end of the year.

“He’ll be out mostly toward the end of the year,” Todd Bowles said. “We’ll see what happens.”

This injury will end Evans’ streak of 1000-yard seasons. He is the only player in league history to have 1000+ yards in each of his first 11 seasons. If he did it again in 2025, he would have broken Jerry Rice’s record for most consecutive 1000-yard seasons in NFL history.

    Mike Evans Fantasy Outlook

The fantasy outlook is not good for Mike Evans for the rest of the season. Head coach Todd Bowles indicated that Evans will be out until at least close to the end of the season. He did not indicate if he was referring to the end of the regular season or the playoffs if the Buccaneers go on a run in the postseason.

As a result, Evans is no longer a viable fantasy option this season. He can be kept on your IR just in case he returns for the final game or two of the regular season.
