The Colorado football team continues to trend in the wrong direction even after the conclusion of its 2025 season. This time it’s on the recruiting end. Mantrez Walker is planning to enter the transfer portal, according to 247Sports Transfer Portal’s post on X. The young linebacker ended up redshirting this year. He has been there for all four years, wherever he decides to go. So where is Walker going to end up?

Top 5 Landing Spots For Colorado LB
Miami
Miami was one of the favorites to land Walker when he came in. Coach Cristobal will definitely have some rebuilding to do this year when his talented defense could head to the draft. Cristobal and Walker also have connected well in Walker’s original recruitment. It would be surprising if Miami isn’t in the mix to try to grab Walker.
LSU
The Tigers were the other prominent team that was pursuing Walker down the stretch. He clearly likes what they were building, and now they have a new coach. LSU should become an interesting place with Lane Kiffin. Walker could try to pursue the start of the new era in Baton Rouge.
Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets could be in the mix for the Colorado transfer because of proximity. It’s back home for Walker, who went to Buford High School. If Walker decides he wants to go home, Tech offers a great option that has also been pretty good lately. If Georgia chooses to skip out on him, Tech could scoop up the leftovers.
Georgia
The Bulldogs are a somewhat obvious choice, given that Walker is from the state. The question is whether they want to take a chance on a linebacker or not. Kirby Smart is more likely to look at talent than not, with that being said, depth could leave the Bulldogs out of this one.
Michigan
The Wolverines had Walker all the way till he decommitted from them. While Michigan is definitely a long shot, it is still a shot at the end of the day. Tough defense is known to run through Michigan, and Walker could see that as a potential option.
Bottom Line
Whichever Walker goes, he will have his work cut out for him. If there is anything we have learned in the NIL era, it is that teams don’t like bad investments. For Buffs fans, this news should not be too surprising. Walker barely played for them and clearly wants to get more action. The question will be whether he will get an upgrade or a downgrade from Coach Sanders and company.
