Malik Nabers Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Giants WR Ahead of Week 6

New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers got himself injured over at MetLife Stafium, and this has had many people questioning how safe its FieldTurf playing surface is. His injury has been described to be a “major” one, and this raises the question of will he be able to play or not.

    What Happened to Malik Nabers?

According to reports, the Giants wide receiver tore not just his ACL, but also the meniscus in his right knee as he was trying to catch a pass from new Giants QB1, Jaxson Dart. He reportedly landed hard on the ground and was seen grabbing his led after, getting helped out to the medical tent before being led to the locker rooms.

His injury was blamed on MetLife Stadium’s updated version of FieldTurf, called the FieldTurf Core system, which was installed to decrease the number of injuries back in 2023. The stadium was considered to have the lowest injury rates in the league among fields using grass or turf, but it was still blamed for the incident.

One executive from a different team told ESPN that their players were “petrified” of playing at MetLife because of the custom turf, with one injured player saying he may not play through his injury should he play at the joint home stadium for the New York Jets and the New York Giants.

Is Malik Nabers out of the Season?

As for if he would be out for the season, the answer is yes. A torn meniscus is one thing, but a torn ACL is another, and this type on injury usually gets athletes on the shelf for years, not just months. His season is likely over, and this was made official by head coach Brian Daboll:

“We’ll have a tremendous amount of support for him and his family,” he said. . “That’s obviously a tough loss for our football team, but we’ll regroup, and we’ll get the guys ready to play that are here and be as good as we can be. On the perimeter, I know those guys will do everything they can do to be as good as we can be. But certainly, when you lose one of your better players, that’s a big loss.”

    Malik Nabers Fantasy Outlook

As for Fantasy, managers have to either sit him or drop him, as his season is officially done. Wide receivers Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton are seen as the ones replacing him.
