Jacksonville Jaguars two-way star Travis Hunter had one of the most anticipated rookie debuts in recent years. While he was the second pick of the 2025 NFL draft, his debut was more anticipated than any other rookie. That is because fans were curious about how he would perform as a two-way player in the NFL after his success with the Colorado Buffaloes in college.
While his season was up and down to start, he finally broke out on Oct. 19 against the LA Rams. He was targeted 14 times, making eight catches for 101 yards and one TD. It was the first TD of his career, and blew away his former career best in yardage (64).
Unfortunately for Hunter, he injured his right leg while in a defensive drill the following week. It was a non-contact injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season. He underwent season-ending surgery on Tuesday to repair an isolated LCL injury in his right knee.
On Thursday, Travis Hunter’s wife, Leanna, posted a photo of Hunter lying in bed with their child. She included a playful comment about needing to take care of two babies.
“Taking care of 2 babies is not for the weak,” Leanna Lenee wrote.

How Does Travis Hunter’s Injury Impact His 2026 Outlook?
Travis Hunter is expected to miss six months recovering from surgery. While this means he will miss the rest of the season, it also means he should have plenty of time to get ready for the 2026 season. He should be able to resume activities in mid-May, giving him lots of time to get back into football shape. This injury is not expected to negatively impact his development.
Head coach Liam Coen spoke on Wednesday about Hunter’s status as a two-way player heading into next season.
“I understand there’s a lot of questions about if he’ll remain a two-way player and all those kind of things,” Liam Coen said. “All of that is very premature and at the end of the day, like every player on this roster, he’ll be evaluated at the end of the season and we’ll be able to give him his three best and the things that we need to continue to improve upon and the things we need to build on.”
