“Went From Backing Up Lamar Jackson to Dillon Gabriel”: Fans Troll Shedeur Sanders As New Report Sheds Light On Cleveland QB’s NFL Draft Decision

NFL fans are criticizing Shedeur Sanders, after senior NFL reporter Adam Schefter reported on X a significant decision of the quarterback on draft day.

Schefter wrote that the Baltimore Ravens had planned on taking Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. But then Sanders made it known, on the pick, that he did not want to be on the same roster as star quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Immediately after the report came out, fans on X trolled Sanders on the irony of his current position.

A fan shared a hilarious gif of two people laughing maniacally, reacting to Shedeur’s decision to not be on the same roster as Lamar Jackson.

“Did he think a 5th round pick was going to start week 1 on a different team?😂”, said a fan.

“Rather be Lamar back up than Joe Flaccos💀”, stated a fan.

Another fan shared an apt gif reacting to Shedeur’s current situation:

“Shedeur’s got backup plans,” commented a fan with a clever wordplay.

An Ishowspeed gif was in display as a fan shared a comical gif reacting to this situation:

“Smart man. I’d rather back up Joe Flacco too,” said a fan sarcastically.

On draft day, Shedeur was finally selected by the Cleveland Browns. Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski commented on the Cleveland QB situation. He insinuated that Sanders is still behind Flacco and Gabriel for now.

Shedeur Faces Competition in the Browns Quarterback Room

The Cleveland Browns eventually traded to acquire Sanders in the fifth round. He now finds himself in a developmental role, positioned behind veteran starter Joe Flacco, and rookie Dillon Gabriel.

Sanders had an eventful preseason as he showed some flashes of promise but also had some inconsistency to his game. On top of that, an oblique injury impacted the state of his training camp.

As for his current limited work, the Browns coaching staff has said Sanders is getting work, with quarterback coach Bill Musgrave recently stating Sanders is getting some scout team reps to make sure this quarterback continues to develop with the other back-up QBs.

Sanders appears to have little hope of getting NFL playing time unless things change. It could be interesting to see if the situation changes any time during the season.
