Kyler Murray Trade Rumors Heat Up as Analyst Signals Potential Franchise Reset Ahead of 2026

December football is here. While some teams are looking to make the playoffs, most are getting ready for next year as we round the last corner of the NFL season. The Arizona Cardinals are unfortunately on the getting for next year side. While the Cardinals haven’t had their star quarterback for the majority of this season, some are starting to suggest it could be time to move on. A recent post on X by Ari Meirov of My Sports Update featured head Coach Jonathon Gannon avoiding a question asked about Kyler Murray staying in Arizona.

Gannon pivoted away by stating his focus is purely on the Los Angeles Rams, who play the Cards on Sunday. While Gannon’s comments don’t confirm anything, they do seem concerning for Cardinals fans. Could it be time for the Cardinals to start over?

“I’m worried about the Rams right now, honestly.”

The head coach’s comments aren’t the only thing fueling the trade rumours. Recently, Dan Graziano of ESPN also had a similar take on Murray’s situation. The analyst put Murray on his list of possible trade candidates in 2026. Murray’s contract seems to be a real issue.

He is guaranteed $36.8 million, which also hurts his trade value if the Cardinals decide they want to move on from their QB1. The Cardinals will likely try to avoid a full rebuild, but it could be their only option. Murray could be getting way too much money, especially for a guy who hasn’t been able to stay healthy for the majority of his NFL career.

Where Can Arizona Send Kyler Murray?

    Cleveland Browns

The Browns have had plenty of struggles this year, especially at QB1. Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders don’t look like long-term solutions either. If the Browns can figure out the contract, they could be prime candidates to bring in Murray.

    Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders have had plenty of offensive issues this year. They will probably be looking to make moves this offseason, but it could end up costing them a draft pick to grab Murray. Caroll has experience with mobile quarterbacks, having worked with Russell Wilson, which makes Las Vegas a potential destination.

    New York Jets

The Jets seem like more of a long shot, but they already have a mobile QB system. Justin Fields hasn’t been a solution to their offensive issues, and if they see Murray as a better fit, they could try to grab him. There is also a safety net for New York. The Jets have three first-round picks in 2027. Murray simply doesn’t have to work out for them.

    Bottom Line

The Cardinals won’t have their franchise quarterback for the entire 2025 season. Murray was ruled out by Gannon on Friday due to his foot injury. While the contract will certainly be an issue regarding trading him, it may be the best option after another disappointing season in Arizona.
