New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot outside a Manhattan restaurant last weekend, getting hit in the chest. He was in critical condition but is stable, with officials believing that the NFL player is likely to survive. A suspect was spotted and described as wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt, black pants and multi-colored sneakers.
Now, the New York Police Department (NYPD) has released the first images of the suspect, which were taken by a surveillance camera following the incident. The gunman reportedly ran off after shooting the Jets cornerback and police are now looking for him.

Boyd, who is currently on the injured reserve list, has not played at all this season, as he underwent surgery to repair an injured shoulder last Aug. 18. Reports suggest that there was a fight between the two, and this led to Boyd being shot.
As for the team, they are already aware of the situation, as stated by a team spokesperson:
“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” said the Jets spokesperson.
This is an active case and investigations are still ongoing. That being said, police are asking the public for more information about the suspect and are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Police will reveal more information as investigations continue.
Outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams released a statement regarding the case as well:
“Although we’ve gotten shootings to historic lows in our city, we must continue to work to end gun violence,” he said. “Too many young lives have been tragically altered and cut short by this epidemic.”
Kris Boyd’s Friend Provides Health Update On Cornerback After Shooting
As for how Kris Boyd is doing right now, one of his closest friends from his days playing for the University of Texas, Ernest Quander, has spoken to the New York Post to give an update on his health, saying that the cornerback is in “good condition.”
“He’s all good right now. He’s in good condition. He’s doing real good,” Quander told the Post.
He added that Boyd is a shoulder who has been through tough times, so he is fine. The cornerback was shot twice, with him being hit in the abdomen.
