Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith is struggling with throwing accurately. On Sunday, he threw his eighth interception of the season during Week 5 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
The interception came in the second quarter when a laser throw from Smith near the endzone ended up being intercepted by Colts linebacker Laiatu Latu with just under four minutes remaining in the half. Colts were leading the game 14-3 when this happened.

The interception is worrying Raiders fans as they now want backup quarterback Kenny Pickett to take the reins already.
“It’s time for baby hands Kenny Pickett,” one fan commented on X.

“Geno said he “didn’t write back” when people wrote him off, but this is him currently,” another fan trolled Smith.

“Bro needs to stop throwing the ball,” one fan wrote.
“Mannnn Geno is done. Was hoping he still got it but he dont,” one fan shared.
“And the @Raiders guaranteed $66.5 million to that bag of douche 🤨 WTF is wrong with these General Managers?” one fan asked.
Coming into this game, Geno Smith has passed for 948 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per attempt, with a passer rating of 79.1. He has a dismal 6:7 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
NFL Analyst Urges Pete Carroll To Move On From Geno Smith For Kenny Pickett
Geno Smith signed a two-year, $75,000,000 contract with the Raiders, which will keep him through the 2027 season. As such, the Raiders may not want to move from Smith for Pickett, who was traded by the Cleveland Browns before the season started.
Head coach Pete Carroll has also maintained a chance that the Raiders are looking to win each and every case and benching Smith for Pickett isn’t the way they will be going.
However, in the wake of Smith’s struggles with interception, NFL analyst Cody Benjamin has called for a change before the Raiders look for a complete transformation.
“Pete Carroll’s whole deal as the new coach was to establish a win-now operation, and Smith was acquired to lead the charge, bringing veteran gravitas to the quarterback spot,” Benjamin wrote (via Just Blog Baby). “Unfortunately, his worst tendencies as a risk-taker have contributed to the Raiders’ slow start; he leads the NFL with seven picks in four games.
“Pickett, meanwhile, may be best known for bouncing between clubs as a trade chip, but he’s still just 27, only a couple years removed from serving as a full-timer with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If the Raiders offense keeps having issues with ball security, isn’t it possible Carroll will want to see what he has in the younger Pickett before opting for a total reboot of the position next offseason?” he added.
Though benching rumors against Geno Smith have taken pace, it remains to be seen if he can shut down those with an improvement.
