Keenan Allen Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Chargers WR Status Ahead of Week 16

The Los Angeles Chargers are trying to remain in the NFL playoffs, though the team drew some concern after wide receiver Keenan Allen appeared on the injury report. Allen appeared in the injury report this week, with him not participating during Wednesday’s practice session ahead of the game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite this listing, however, it seems that the Chargers were merely resting the veteran wide receiver ahead of such an important game. He is not injured, with the reason for why he missed practice and appeared on the injury report just listed as “rest.”

Following his absence on Wednesday, he did practice on Thursday and Friday, with him being listed as having a “full practice” ahead of the game against the Cowboys. Teams often rest their veteran players ahead of important games, especially as the Chargers are vying for a better playoff spot. While the Cowboys have been eliminated already, it would not make them less dangerous, as they would want to end their season strong.

Is Keenan Allen Playing Week 16?

It should be safe to say that while he did miss one day of practice, it was just to rest, so in all likelihood, Keenan Allen would be playing against the Cowboys. Allen has played well this year, offering some veteran guidance for the wide receiver room. He has had 68 receptions for 680 yards, with four touchdowns already, so his services are needed in such an important game, with better seeding in the playoffs on the line.

Officially, he has no game status listed, so it is truly likely that he will be playing on Sunday.

    Keenan Allen Fantasy Outlook

As for Fantasy owners, they should not be too worried if they have Keenan Allen on their roster, as the team was just giving him some rest ahead of an important game. They should be able to play him this week and be a starter.

Should I Start Keenan Allen or Jakobi Meyers?

If Fantasy managers are wondering who they should start between Keenan Allen or Jakobi Meyers, both wide receivers are actually quite similar; Meyers is just a little bit younger. On who they should start, both are viable, but given that Meyers and the Jaguars’ next opponent will have a very good defense with the Denver Broncos, going with Keenan Allen against a slightly “easier” defense like the Cowboys would be a better choice.
