The Kansas City Chiefs’ season hasn’t gone exactly as planned. Entering Week 6, Patrick Mahomes and company are saddled with a negative 2-3 record after losing 28-31 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Monday Night Football.
Their problem isn’t in the passing game, as they rank as a top-10 passing offense (No. 9), and overall, they’re the seventh-best offense in the league. Rushing numbers are equally good, with them being the 10th-best offense in that regard, well, at least on paper.
Upon dissecting the rushing numbers of the Chiefs, one would find out that quarterback Patrick Mahomes is their leading rusher with 190 yards, more than Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt. It seems that this imbalance has Andy Reid and the coaching staff at Arrowhead Stadium concerned, as they have decided to search for a new member for the backfield.

Rumour around the league is that New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara could head to Kansas City. The player is seen as the boost the Chiefs need to turn around their season, while the Saints are in the middle of a 1-4 season (their only victory coming against the equally struggling New York Giants).
New Orleans might be about to start a lengthy rebuilding process, and shedding aging assets before they lose value might be the way to go (running backs are known for their short-lived careers).
Kamara is in his ninth season with the New Orleans Saints after being drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft from the Tennessee Volunteers. In the same year, he was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
