Several teams are vying for a spot in the NFL playoffs, and one of them are the Los Angeles Chargers. For Week 14, they will be taking on the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles in a must-win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive, but it might be without Justin Herbert, as their quarterback is injured and may be missing the big game.
Herbert is actually dealing with a broken left arm and even underwent surgery last Monday to fix it. Despite having a surgically-repaired non-throwing arm, Herbert has been saying that he wants to play against the Eagles, but that decision is not really up to him, especially as he just had surgery a few days ago.
Justin Herbert Injury Update
As fans anxiously await news of Herbert’s return, LA Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh provided an update on his star quarterback, revealing that he did not practice on Wednesday. Harbaugh also did not fully reveal if he plans to play Herbert against the Vikings on Monday night.
Him not practicing can be taken as a bad sign, as this means that the team believes he is not healed enough to even start practicing yet, even at a limited capacity. The quarterback impressed many as he returned during last week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, even after injuring his left arm, with tests showing that that arm was actually broken and needed to be surgically repaired.
Is Justin Herbert Playing Week 14?
For now, it is still not yet known if he would play on Week 14, especially as the Chargers need to beat the Eagles on Monday night to strengthen their playoff contention efforts. Aaron Rodgers tried to play for the Steelers last week despite having three fractured bones on his non-throwing wrist, but he got hurt even more in the process. Herbert may be trying to do the same, but it can lead to him injuring that surgically-repaired left arm.
Justin Herbert Fantasy Outlook
For now, with his status still unknown, Fantasy managers should be prepared to sit him out for Week 14. However, it would be wise to wait and see if he would be cleared later this week, and it might even be a game-time decision. For now, managers better brace themselves.
