Josh Jacobs Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Packers RB Status Ahead of Week 9

The Green Bay Packers have become a playoff contender, with the Week 8 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers being their latest, and one of the biggest contributors was running back Josh Jacobs. However, as Week 9 approaches, there is a possibility that he might not play against the Carolina Panthers after suddenly appearing on the Packers injury report.

With their showdown on Sunday against the Panthers fast approaching, many are wondering whether or not the running back, who leads the Packers with 447 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, with 19 receptions on 191 receiving yards, will not be playing.

    What Happened to Josh Jacobs?

Josh Jacobs has been dealing with a recurring calf issue for a while now, and this is the reason why the running back suddenly appeared on the Packers injury report on Wednesday.

The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman reported that Jacobs did practice on Wednesday, though it was limited due to the calf issue, and added that he had been playing limited reps for two weeks in a row now, This meant that during that Steelers game, he was playing while hurt but still had 45 rushing yards on 16 carries, resulting in one touchdown.

Despite this, it should be noted that veterans, particularly those who have had injury issues like Jacobs, usually play limited minutes during Wednesday practice, and this is a possible sign that the team is confident about his condition.

Is Josh Jacobs Playing Week 9?

There is still no official word whether or not Josh Jacobs will be in action on Sunday against the Panthers, but the team itself has been very optimistic about his status so far. Head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters that Jacobs felt “pretty good” after that game against the Steelers on Sunday, noting that they have been managing the running back’s work load in the last few weeks.

LeFleur acknowledged that their best running back has a calf issue and are carefully addressing it. However, he also confirmed that they are confident that he will be healthy enough to play. This means that it is highly likely that Jacobs will be taking to the field on Sunday.

    Josh Jacobs Fantasy Outlook

It is actually looking good for Fantasy managers, as it is very likely he would play. He would likely be playing hurt again, but that has not stopped him from playing monster games like he did against Pittsburgh, so it should be safe to start him.
